The short version. SchoolHouse is a learning tool for families, not an advertising business.
· We never sell your data or your child's data.
· We never show ads and don't allow third-party ad tracking.
· You're the parent — you control your children's profiles and can delete your family's data at any time.
· Data is encrypted in transit and passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text.
This policy explains what information SchoolHouse ("we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to schoolhouseathome.com and the SchoolHouse learning platform.
Who this is for
SchoolHouse is set up and managed by a parent or guardian for use by the children in their household. Accounts are created by adults. Children use the platform under profiles their parent creates and controls.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — the parent's name and email address, and a password (which we store only as a secure hash).
- Student profiles — for each child, a first name (or nickname), grade level, and optional avatar choices. You decide what to enter.
- Learning activity — answers, lesson progress, time on task, scores, and similar work your child produces as they use the lessons.
- Anything you send us — feedback, support messages, or beta-signup details.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data — IP address, browser and device type, and pages visited, used to keep the service running, secure, and working on your devices.
- Session cookies — a small cookie that keeps you signed in. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use information
- To deliver lessons and save your child's progress.
- To show you, the parent, a dashboard of what your children are learning and where they need help.
- To operate, secure, and improve the platform.
- To send you account and product emails (you can opt out of non-essential email any time).
Children's privacy
SchoolHouse is designed to be COPPA-conscious. Children's profiles are created and controlled by their parent, and we collect only the limited information needed to run the lessons and track progress. We do not require children to provide personal information beyond what their parent enters, we do not show children advertising, and we do not sell or share children's information for marketing. As the parent, you can review, edit, or delete your children's information at any time, or ask us to do it for you.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your information or your child's information.
- We never show advertising or allow third-party ad networks to track your family.
- We never use your child's work to build advertising profiles.
When we share information
We share data only with the service providers we need to run SchoolHouse, and only as much as they need to do their job:
- Hosting and infrastructure — to store data and serve the application.
- Email delivery — to send account and product emails.
- AI processing — to power features like automated grading and lesson generation. Content sent for these features is used to provide the feature, not to train third-party advertising models.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or security of our users and the service. If SchoolHouse is ever involved in a merger or acquisition, we'll require any successor to honor this policy and will notify you of any change.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed password storage, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your family's information and to limit who can access it.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete a student profile, or your whole family account, at any time. When you delete data, we remove it from active systems; limited copies may remain briefly in backups before they cycle out. To request deletion or a copy of your data, email us at the address below.
Your choices
- Review, edit, or delete your children's profiles from your account.
- Opt out of non-essential emails.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your family's data.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll let you know by email or a notice in the app.
